Refurb vs Recycle

Have you ever wondered if your outdated devices can be reused? Do you want to know when you can reuse a device or when it is time to recycle?

Greentec is here to help!

We are here to help you figure out what items qualify for refurbishment and what items need to be recycled and physically destroyed.

Refurb items include Smartphones, iPads, Laptops, Desktop PCs, Monitors, Servers, Switches, HDs, and SSDs. These items are wiped to remove any residual data and tested for reuse.

Certified Data Erasure is used to maximize the recovery value of these data bearing devices by securely erasing any residual data and then by testing and refurbishing the device for reuse. When you work with Greentec, we give you the option to receive documentation and reports that include a Certificate of Erasure with items’ make, model, serial number, and asset tag.

Electronic products that we recycle at no charge include: all refurb items that fail, cables, wires, and power supply, and telco equipment.

All items that fail erasure are disassembled to remove hazardous components (batteries) and to recover reusable parts, components, plastics, and metals. However, for devices that are destined to be broken down and recycled, industrial-grade shredders are used to break down the device and all media contained within the device to protect personal data and information. From this step, all materials are physically separated into base commodities for recycling, such as:

  • plastics,
  • glass,
  • steel,
  • aluminum,
  • copper,
  • and precious metals.

Once we break down electronic scrap and recover reusable materials, we return the value back to you! We want to help give back to you what you bring to us so you can keep as much value as possible from the devices you decide to recycle.

We ensure all items are recycled safely and securely – both for the environment and for data privacy.
