What is your Data & Device Lifecycle Management Process?

Focused on ensuring data is securely destroyed and asset materials are incorporated into the circular economy, Greentec is committed to assisting organizations across industries to manage their IT assets across all stages of their lifecycle.

Data & Device Lifecycle Management- Devices that are in-use

Taking data security into account, Greentec offers a variety of solutions to ensure devices are securely wiped of data and the device itself is managed according to its stage in the life cycle.

For devices that are to remain in use, Greentec can provide data destruction services at our facility, or on-site at the client’s location. Utilizing third-party software, Greentec is able to wipe all data from both magnetic and solid-state drives, rendering the data unrecoverable.

Upon completion of the data being wiped, the software will capture the device’s make, model, serial number and perform diagnostics to detect residual data. If data is remaining on the device, the media is physically destroyed by shred.

What data wipe options are available?

  1. NIST 800-88, one overwrites, securely erases, and provides verification
  2. CSEC ITSG-06 – three overwrite passes ((0’s, 1’s, random)
  3. DoD M5220.22 three overwrites with one verification (0’s, 1’s, random)
  4. Canadian OPS-II – Seven overwrite passes with verification

Data & Device Lifecycle Management- Devices no longer in-use

For devices that are damaged, broken, and are at the end of their lifecycle, Greentec follows the procedure outlined below:

  • Destroyed media and broken devices are identified and sorted into two categories:
    • Materials that can go directly into the shredder system
    • Materials that have hazards and require depolluting to remove components, such as embedded batteries
  • Once materials are depolluted, they are sent to the shredder system, which reduces materials into small fractions
  • From there, it separates the shredded fractions into base materials, such as steel, aluminum, copper, circuit boards, and plastics
  • Greentec utilizes a series of metal, optical, and infrared detection and sorting equipment for the separation and purification of shredded materials

Upon completion of this process, the client will receive a Certificate of Recycling, with a description of the services performed, as well as the materials and weights processed.
