Greentec is certified to the highest industry standards for electronics refurbishing and recycling.
Electronic equipment generally includes any type of equipment that is used primarily used to store, process or covey information electronically and any accessories to that equipment.
Greentec electronics refurbishing, and recycling services are backed by R2V3 and NAID certification. We’ve been providing ITAD and e-waste services to clients in Canada for the over 27 years. We are approved by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) under ECA to operate an electronic waste processing site.
There are three key components to Greentec's standard recycling process:
1) Logistics
a) Electronic equipment can either be dropped at Greentec or at one of our partner locations or
b) Customer can chose to have electronic equipment picked by Greentec at their location and safely transported back to one of our facilities for processing. Secure container services are available for disposal and recycling of electronic equipment. Greentec uses its own fleet of trucks, and third-party carries which are vetted for health, safety, environmental, quality and security standards.
2) Processing of Electronic Devices
a) Receiving: service orders are scheduled in advance and upon receipt of a service order, each skid(s) and container(s) is identified, counted, weighted, tagged, scanned, and recorded into our order management system. Material is then staged and ready for sorting and categorization.
b) Sorting and categorization: items are identified, counted, grouped, weighed, inventoried, and staged for either refurbishment, or end-of-life processing.
c) Data sanitization: data bearing devices are tested and securely sanitized of any residual data utilizing encrypted and licensed software. Data sanitization is performed to NIST 800-88 purge standard. The make, model and serial number of the device is captured and recorded for compliance and asset tracking. When data wipe fails, the item is segregated and staged for end-of-life recycling.
d) End-of-life recycling: electronic scrap materials are weighed, categorized and inventoried by material type. Electronics that contain Focus Material which are hazardous materials such as batteries, print cartridges and mercury require greater care and safeguards due to their toxicity and potential risks to workers, the public and the environment. Electronics containing focus material are disassembled to remove and separate hazards which are bulked and sent to approved downstream processors for material recovery.
e) Shredding and material separation: scrap electronics are shredded and then separated into base commodities such as plastic, steel, aluminum, copper, and precious metal bearing fractions for recycling. Once end-of-life processing is completed the commodity outputs are sent to approved downstream partners who utilizes the materials to further produce new products, propelling the circular economy.
3) Reporting
a) Standard recycling includes a Certificate of Recycling with date, time of processing and weight of electronic equipment received.
b) Certified Recycling Services includes a Certificate of Recycling for materials received is generated after the completion of each service order. This includes a detailed list of the products received, along with their weights and the associated cost or rebate.
c) Certificate of Data Erasure is available for all data bearing devices that were wiped and recovered for reuse. This report includes date and time, method of erasure and an itemized list of each item make, model and serial numbers.
d) Certificate of Destruction is available for all data bearing devices that either failed data erasure or cannot be reused and were physically destroyed by shredder.
Greentec recycling process is transparent so that materials can be tracked from time of pick-up to the point of destination. This means that clients know precisely what, where, when and how the material is processed
